GO ON SAFARI IN YOUR OWN CAR

 - and get close to animals from around the world.

Go on safari in your own car, or hop on a safari bus and head out over the African savannah, where giraffes, zebras and antelopes cross the road in front of you. Continue into the dangerous territory of the lions and feel the thrill when the big cats creep around just outside the car windows. If you dare?

Already at the entrance to the park you can buy an exciting safari book with a CD guide for the car.

Throughout most of the season there are daily feedings and stories about selected animal species, among others, elephants, camels and gorillas. You can find all the feeding times on givskudzoo.dk that also tells of newborn animals among the approx. 70 species at GIVSKUD ZOO.

When you have had enough of observing the wildlife, GIVSKUD ZOO offers play, socializing and involvement for all ages. Pop into the North American tepee camp where children can bake twist-bread over a fire and pan for gold in true prospector style. Afterwards you can let your wild children loose on the giant playground with special areas for the smallest, so you can relax as well. Let the children also try a ride on the safari train where, together with the driver, they can feed the animals. The playground with the petting goats is perhaps the most popular with the younger children at the zoo.

At GIVSKUD ZOO you will certainly have a good wild day and it’s only 25 km from Billund.

Kiwara – Wild Africa

Hear the roar of the lion - The king of the beasts is the lion, but Africa’s wildlife is much more than just the lion. Enjoy the sight of the jumping ring-tailed lemurs, pat the goats, experience the beautiful birds or see how slowly a giant tortoise actually moves. On the savannah the giraffe shares the plains with ostriches, zebras, sitatungas and other wild animals. See Africa up close in the heart of Odense and experience an animal kingdom that’s much more than you ever could have dreamt of.

Would you like to feed the giraffe? Wow! Odense ZOO is the only place in Denmark where you can feed a giraffe. So get really close and enjoy a unique experience. Take the whole family on a journey of discovery at the ZOO. Play and explore the secrets of the savannah along with K.T. Kaya, Seje Sam and all the other fun figures. You can be sure it’ll be wild!

Asia – dangerous and fantastic animals

Wild jaws! - Get close to the Siberian tiger when it’s being trained and feel a frisson of fear when it stands up on its hind legs and opens its jaws. The zookeepers will be happy to answer all your questions and tell you anything you wish to know, ranging from information about the climate in Asia to how to teach a tiger new tricks or what is the favourite food of the red panda.

South America – from the tropics to Antarctica

Heatwaves and freezing climes - South America has everything from rare tapirs to huge manatees. Experience the humid climate with tropical downpours and lots of animals – and end your journey through the Oceanium in the chilly world of the penguins.

Randers Rainforest is an experience for all the senses

All the time you will be surprised, delighted and amazed on the tour through the three continents: Asia, Africa and South America.

The senses are bombarded from the moment you walk into the rainforest. You are embraced by the tropical, humid heat. Scents of the earth, plants, flowers and fruits, and the sounds of the many birds and waterfalls are overwhelming. You will be fascinated by huge cliffs and beautiful plants, and surprised when monkeys suddenly jump around on the trail or bats fly close by you.

After just a few steps you have been taken on a trip into the rainforest’s world, where only the red-shirted guides and domed ceiling snap you out of the illusion. More than half of the animals in Randers Rainforest live freely in the three domes. You get very close to the 250 species - in their environment and on their terms.

Ree Park – Ebeltoft Safari

Close to the animals’ world – Close to all the world’s animals

In Djursland’s large safari park the animals are able to roam in picturesque surroundings with plenty of space. See Denmark’s only cheetahs hunting their lunch at speeds of 70 km/h. See bears and wolves on the North American prairie. Enjoy Africa’s diverse wildlife on a Land Rover Safari, where you can meet giraffes, black rhinos, zebras, ostriches, gnus and many other fascinating animals.

Go on an expedition to Katanga Hill. The several hundred metre long footbridge leads you up to the Kopje rock formation, where you can stand face to face with the park’s mighty lions. From the rocks you and the king of the beasts have a unique view of the savannah and the many fascinating animals.

Madagascar and the monkey islands make up a charming area. You can walk around amongst the animals and get close to the inquisitive lemurs and squirrel monkeys.

SCANDINAVIAN WILDLIFE PARK

In the middle of Djursland there’s a wildlife park that really stands out from the rest. Scandinavian Wildlife Park is famous for its impressive size and the way it’s been laid out by taking into account the needs of the animals.

The unspoilt countryside and non-commercial surroundings are home to the world’s biggest predator. The polar bears live in the world’s biggest and best polar bear park, which contains everything that a polar bear could ever dream about: acres of room and a lake of 5,000 m2. You can get close to the polar bear’s natural habitat on the long footbridge, where there’s a good chance of making eye contact with Nanok and the other polar bears. The brown bears are so busy climbing, romping around and playing in their huge enclosure that they probably won’t even notice you. You can therefore experience their natural behaviour up close – so take your time! Of course, our fantastic wolves, impressive elks, muskoxen and all the other animals also live in huge, natural enclosures that focus on animal welfare. You see the animals at close quarters and it’s great to know that they’re behaving in a natural manner to an extent you’ll have never seen before!

Feeding the predators and other WILD experiences

The animals always come first at our wildlife park, but humans are also welcome – there’s plenty of space for you, your family and your friends – space to relax whilst enjoying the day in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by quite unique animal experiences. Take part in the daily feeding of the large predators and learn about our own local Nordic wildlife. Buy a bag of food and feel the soft muzzle of the fallow deer as they eat out of your hand. Visit our large nature playground, where adults can enjoy an unobstructed view from the large picnic areas.

Exotic predators in the middle of North Jutland’s capital.

In summer 2012, Aalborg Zoo welcomes you to a whole new and exciting predator enclosure. You can get close to tigers, both when they are in the water and on land. Experience the pride of lions in the real, majestic surroundings and go exploring in the cat world.

As the only place in Denmark, you can also discover the great orang-utan apes and the African elephants. Stand 38 mm from the polar bear cubs that are in their element in one of the best polar bear enclosures in Europe.
